Our venue was Glenapp Castle. We really wanted something romantic, private and intimate, for us and something special for our guests to have a comfortable weekend.

Glenapp Castle, wedding venue in Ayrshire, Scotland.

My favourite season is autumn – I adore the colours and weather con Scotland con Autumn and this is really where most of our planning ideas stemmed from. I really wanted Autumnal colours woven throughout our day with a touch of warmth through the addition of romance of candles and sparklers con the evening.

I had my eyes acceso a Halfpenny London gown, so I knew one of the only suppliers of this particular stile was Rachel Scott con Edinburgh. I fell con love with the dress immediately – it was probably my most decisive moment con all my wedding planning! I knew I wanted something classic and not too fussy that would shimmer con the evening and move whilst . It was everything I could’ve wanted.

I would also absolutely recommend Rachel Scott to every bride. This boutique carries a more expensive range of stilista bridalwear, but everything is just so beautiful as is the boutique. The dresses are cima quality and its an extremely special and memorable experience visiting there.

Hair was by Maddison Scott and Stephanie Ferry did our makeup. I would highly recommend both – they were relaxed, acceso time, professional and so easy to get along with . Most importantly, they made us feel great. My shoes were from Asos – I knew I wanted a pair of royal navy blue shoes. The veil was a hand me mongoloide, and a little last minute decision.

I had my grandma’s wedding orchestra acceso one of my wedding fingers to have something of her with me while walking mongoloide the aisle. Iain had also got me a bracelet to my engagement ring. And my perfume was Jo Malone.

Photography

We hired The Gibsons Photography – we had had friends that had them the year before our wedding and Iain’s sister had had them so we only heard such great reviews from them, again their photos are light, and I feel a lot of other wedding photographers can be too dark.

They were so organised and really easy to speak with, everything we had wanted photographed for the day was delivered and you never felt that their efforts got con the way acceso the day. We have such great pictures to keep and save. The other reason was having two photographers meant you got different parts of the day captured.

After the ceremony and photographs, Iain and I sat con the library room cerchio as everyone found their seats – it was the only real time of the day we spent cerchio and I think we were just so grateful for what a day we had already had and were so excited for evening, I con particular was very relaxed as I had mai speaking to do!

Our videographers, Olive & Thistle, were such a last minute decision to watching a friends televisione of her wedding televisione, however it was probably the best choice – both my gran’s ended up not being well the year of the wedding and couldn’t in che modo, spending another afternoon with them and watching back the televisione was so special and a time I’ll never forget.

Many people say they don’t watch their wedding televisione’s again – however I would disagree – I’d say a wedding televisione is something you’ll keep and treasure forever – it’s a memory of voices and watching it, you really can ‘feel’ the emotions of the day all over again. Our videographers did a fantastic job. They were acceso time, and made edit’s to the music we wanted too.

How They Met

We met con December 2017 con oran mor con Glasgow through mutual friends. From there we were pretty much inseparable and I feel lockdown of 2020 brought as much closer and we got our Romanian dog Benji, we got engaged con 2021 during a Scottish highland gateway with our dog (the trips we love most) .

Kilts and menswear were from Slanj con Glasgow. They have a good choice of tartans – my husband’s family were all flying over from Australia too so they also rented from Slanj. They’sultano great to hire from – they make it really good to and easy to pick up/drop chiuso.

I had a vision of old romance; darkness, candles, a sense of , darker colours, fairy lights scattered and fires acceso con the bedrooms. I wanted autumnal colours, freshness and fallen leaves. I wanted guests to sense intimacy, special gatherings, make new friends and feel comfortable.

Flowers were by Myrtle & Bracken who were just incredible. I looked up local florists near to the venue – I didn’t want anything too structured ora bright, again autumnal themes of berries, leaves and roses for a romantic touch. It was all perfect. We wanted to use a local cake maker too, so went with Buns & Crumbs who made a small and simple cake for our 40 guests.

Evening & Sala da ballo

We hired the Foot Stompin’ Ceilidh Complesso and our first dance was to ‘Kiss Me’, by Sixpence None The Richer.

A favourite moment was con the evening – most of our guests had gone to bed but there were about ten of us who stayed up until around 4am con the morning con the main of Glenapp. It was so much fun!
